Purpose: This role will help save lives at sea by carrying out the day to day management of the lifeboat station to ensure a permanent state of readiness for service.
Responsible to: Lifeboat Operations Manager (LOM (or the Area Lifesaving Manager (ALM) when actively deputising)
Responsible for: Station personnel and volunteers in the absence of the LOM
This role involves:
Complying with the RNLI Volunteer Commitment Authorising launch of the lifeboats (and hovercraft if appropriate), in accordance with current launching procedures.
In the absence of the LOM or as delegated locally:
Ensuring all operational activities are carried out to maintain the lifeboat and all associated equipment in a constant state of readiness for launching on service.
Leading the operations team and be a member of and represent operations on the lifeboat management group (LMG)
Keeping the LMG chairman regularly appraised of relevant operational matters.
Liaising and maintaining close links with all local emergency services and representing the RNLI’s interests locally in all operational matters.
Ensuring regular meetings are held with the operations team and encourage open communication. In co-operation with the relevant RNLI personnel, ensuring that the RNLI Competency Based Training (CoBT) requirements for staff and volunteers are fulfilled.
Being involved in other activities as required.

Skills Experience & Qualifications:
Role specific requirements: Stepping down age 70
Essential: Own Vehicle or have access to a vehicle
Must live or work locally.
