To visit ships on behalf of the organisation in line with the services core purpose, the provision of "physical, moral and spiritual" support to seafarers and their families, of all different backgrounds and nationalities.

Visit the ships that call into port, building friendship to seafarers, offering support and responding to need as appropriate.
Offer basic spiritual and emotional support and advice to seafarers as required and point them in the right direction where immediate needs cannot be met.
Assist in meeting any practical needs of seafarers like provision of SIM and phone cards and support seafarers who are in hospital.
Provide access to the town, seafarers centre or local facilities.
Liaise with organisations personal or other agencies if on-going work in forward ports may be required.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with other maritime and welfare organisations.
Develop strong working relationships with port authorities, managers and staff.
Maintain a record of ship visiting activity using the port reporting app where available or provide a list of visits to the supervising staff.
Ensure emails are regularly monitored and respond as required.
Attend volunteer meetings for peer support, when required.
Participate in training opportunities as appropriate.

Drive organisations vehicles in port locations, as required.

Skills Experience & Qualifications:
Excellent team working skills.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and trust quickly and effectively.
An effective communicator with excellent listening skills.
Potential volunteers need to be in sympathy with Christian ethos.
Compassionate concern for the welfare and well-being of seafarers.
A highly motivated self-starter, able to work under own initiative.
Willingness to have a flexible approach to volunteering.
Culturally aware with the ability to relate easily to people from many different countries.
