Purpose: Local organisation who offer advice, information and guidance to support and assist families with enquiries on immigration, housing, welfare and health.
A trained advocacy volunteer supports families in need and all volunteers provide a hot meal and help out in the organisations kitchen with refreshments.
This organisation receives donations of furniture, white goods, clothing and household items which are distributed to families in need of these items.
The organisation plan and deliver a range of activities and events throughout the year including:
Diversity Celebration Event
Summer Play Scheme for children
Support from several external agencies is provided to assist and maintain the well-being to the families who use the service.
Organisations committee are looking for a new Treasurer to join their Steering Group.
The Treasurer will be responsible for the monitoring the income and expenditure of the group. The treasurer could assist in applying for external funding to help the groups aims. The treasurer will be expected to provide a finance report at the groups committee meetings which are held bi-monthly.
Time needed from Volunteer:
Bi-Monthly but weekly attendance to the organisation every Monday would be appreciated.
Skills Experience & Qualifications:
Be capable of handling figures and cash.
Have an orderly mind and methodical way of thinking
Have an eye for detail
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to ensure decisions are taken and followed up
Desirable - Finance qualification or equivalent
Be available to be contacted for ad hoc advice
Have previous experience in handling large sums of money and budgets
Have experience of financial control and budgeting
