Purpose: Hartlepool Learning and Skills Service project: Waverley Terrace Community Garden is a site which uses gardening to bring about positive changes in the lives of people living with disabilities, ill health, disadvantaged, vulnerable or anyone who enjoys being outdoors and giving back to the community.. By providing social and therapeutic horticulture “which is a process of working is with plants to improve physical and psychological health, communication and thinking skills”. We are currently looking for people to support with the running of the Friends of Waverley Terrace Community Garden, including: A Chairperson to play a strategic role in representing the vision and purpose of Waverley Terrace Community Garden.
The Chairperson will ensure that the management committee functions properly, that there is full participation at meetings, all relevant matters are discussed and that effective decisions are made and carried out.
To support the employees, helping them achieve the aims of the organisation; and to optimise the relationship between the board of Trustees and the staff.
Acting as a figurehead for the charity (for example, representing it at functions, meetings or in the press).
leading on the development of the board and ensuring its decisions are implemented.
Taking urgent action (but not decision making unless authorised) between board meetings when it isn’t possible or practical to hold a meeting.
Time needed from Volunteer:
The role of Chair of Trustees requires a commitment of approximately 7 hours per month.
Skills Experience & Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess inspirational leadership qualities, strategic thinking ability, and be able to demonstrate advocacy and ambassadorial skills. Experience of business planning and financial acumen are also important strengths.
Any relevant Training will be provided.
