Hartlepool Borough Council Participation Team have ran the Big Lime Triathlon since 2013. Over the years the event has been a huge success and has now grown into the Big Lime Series, offering a program of 3 races over the weekend; an open water swim, aquathlon and triathlon. Due to the event growing and evolving each year we are seeking interested individuals who would like to become part of our event team. We have a number of volunteer roles available, primarily event marshals to assist the smooth running but we also need volunteers to help with bag packing and course erection and dismantlement.

Bag Packing:

- Numbering equipment
- Sorting promotional material
- Packing race numbers, swim hats etc. into
competitor bags
- Organising competitors to race numbers

Course Erection and Dismantlement:

- Putting out and taking down signage along the
- Assisting creating a registration area
- Setting out barriers, hazard tape, floor markings

Event Marshal:

(transition marshals, registration marshals, course marshals, swim counters)
- Engage with the public and competitors at the
- Sign post competitors in the correct direction
- Counting competitors in and out of the water
- Handing out medals
- Ensuring transition is secure

Time needed from Volunteer:
The event runs each year in August.
Volunteers are needed up to 2 weeks prior to the event and during the event.

Volunteers can assist on any number of days, although we would ask that on days they do volunteer they must be able to volunteer for the event duration (usually between 8:00am and 12:00pm)

This year’s event runs 13th August – 16th August 2021.

Skills Experience & Qualifications:
No previous experience necessary, although experience in events would be useful. All our event volunteers are provided with training where appropriate and are briefed and supported accordingly.

The recruitment process for HBC participation team volunteers involves meeting with the Sport and Physical Activity Officer to discuss the role and complete medical/.next of kin information. Volunteers will then need to attend an event briefing prior to the event. High-Vis jackets will be issued and expected to be worn during volunteer hours.

All potential Volunteers will be fully supported throughout to carry out role.

Volunteers will be provided with food vouchers to use on each day volunteered. They can be redeemed at the mecca on a hot sandwich and a drink
