Purpose: Looking for caring and passionate people to greet visitors on arrival, guiding them on where they need to go.
To talk to visitors who are waiting, acting as liaison between patients, visitors and staff.
To engage with visitors who are distressed and anxious, or simply in need of some company.
To escort patients to other departments/discharge as necessary.
You may be required to move patients around the clinical area, if this is required you will undergo appropriate training.
To offer drinks to visitors.
To promote, encourage and support the completion of family questionnaires.
Time needed from Volunteer:
Volunteer play a valuable role across the trust and can do from 2 hours a week to as many as they can spare.
Mon - Fri between the hours of 3:00pm - 7:00pm
Skills Experience & Qualifications:
Good standard of oral/written English
Excellent communication skills
An understanding of confidentiality, respect, dignity and compassion.
Able to keep calm in sometimes challenging situation.
Reliable, with good time management skills.
Ability to deal with potentially stressful situations.
Willing to work in teams and ability to work well in groups.
Open to be challenged in regard to their knowledge and life experience.
